What to Expect

To provide you with a massage that meets your expectation please provide me with your desired needs/goals for the session time allotted.  I will begin by asking you questions to better design the session, please let the me know what areas of your body you would like worked on, if there are any areas to avoid, and if you have any techniques that you would like more information about.  This is the time to discuss any apprehensions or concerns you may have.  All information you give is beneficial and confidential.  Be as open to the process initially as you can.

There are times when a session will only be concerned with a certain part of the body such as the head/neck and/or the back areas. This may be a good introduction if it is your first experience or you may be having treatment for a specific physical problem, say for the back, shoulders or legs. Whatever your needs, massage therapy offers a wide range of options that you can choose from to achieve maximum benefit from the experience.

There are a lot of misconceptions about firm pressure massage work; many people fear that it is painful. In fact, only the most intensive deep tissue or trigger point work will cause pain under ordinary circumstances. If something hurts a little bit, let me know whether it feels like a ‘good’ or therapeutic-seeming discomfort or a really sharp pain. We can discuss the differences and help you figure out exactly what your tolerances are.  Massage does not have to be uncomfortable to be therapeutic.

During a full-body massage, you will be covered with a sheet and/or a blanket. Only the area which is currently being worked on will be undraped, the sheet or blanket will be securely tucked in around limbs or torso. This is known as draping, it is done to ensure your comfort and privacy.
